New Tang Dynasty Television, or NTDTV is an independent, non-profit
broadcaster, located in New York City, with reporters around the world.
NTDTV held their inaugural Han Couture Global Design Competition,
Sunday October 19th, 2008, in The Prince George Ballroom in NYC.
Han Couture reflects the style of dress of China's ethnic Hans dating
back thousands of years. It's defining characteristics are unique
collar and lapels; wide flowing sleeves; and the use of a sash in place
of buttons. The look is refined, reserved, and noble. Han Couture
reached its peak in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, with its influence also
present in today's Japanese Kimono, and Korean Hanbok. (Information
provided by NTDTV).
Designers from China, Malaysia, France, Australia, Canada, South Korea, and Taiwan submitted their designs for this event.
This site showcases just a few of the more than 2,000 photographs taken
during the event. Please click on the designer's name to view their
work.
Enjoy.
